AFP Quebec offers a variety of scholarship programs and professional development opportunities.

AFP members can also be eligible for other AFP Canada, AFP Global or AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada scholarships or professional development programs (e.g., scholarships for the Toronto Congress, Fellowship in Inclusion and Philanthropy, etc.). CHAMBERLAIN SCHOLARSHIP

The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy is proud to announce that it will be offering once again the Chamberlain Scholarship, allowing a member from the Quebec Chapter to participate in the 57th International Conference, which will be held from March 29 – 31, 2020, in Baltimore, MD. This is designed to give individuals working in nonprofit organizations the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in fundraising. The Scholarship covers registration fees, minus a $10 processing fee. In addition, the Quebec Chapter will offer an extra amount of $1,200 to cover part of travel and accommodation costs.

Members wishing to submit their application must read the selection criteria, complete the scholarship application and send it in no later than October 11, 2019 at 5 p.m., accompanied by a motivation letter.

The Chamberlain Scholarship Program honors Ralph Chamberlain for his commitment to the fundraising profession.

Selection criteria
  • Candidate must be a member of AFP Quebec Chapter.
  • Candidate has been employed as a fundraising professional for 3 years or more. If the candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising.
  • Candidate has never attended an AFP or NSFRE International Conference on Fundraising as a registered participant (unless has been a member of the Conference Host Committee) and is enthusiastic to attend the full conference as scheduled.
  • Following the conference, the candidate must agree to complete an online evaluation form  and commit to writing an article about his/her experience and send it to  AFP–Quebec chapter. The selected candidate agrees that the article be posted on the AFP-Quebec Chapter website and social media sites.

FUNDAMENTALS OF FUNDRAISING COURSE SCHOLARSHIP

The course will take place on June 13-14, 2019.

AFP Quebec is proud to offer 4 scholarships of $250 each to reduce the costs of participating in The Fundamentals of Fundraising Course, offered annually. Please apply no later than April 30, 2019 – 11:59 p.m.

Selection criteria
  • Candidate must be an AFP member;
  • Candidate must be employed by a registered charity, or volunteer with a registered charity;
  • If the candidate does not hold a position directly related to philanthropy, he/she must however allocate a significant part of their time to fundraising activities;
  • The candidate must be a first-time participant of the AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course;
  • The candidate will provide a brief written resume (250-300 words) within the 30 days following completion of the course outlining their experience and can share their experience with AFP board members, if they choose to do so.

TORONTO CONGRESS BURSARY

AFP Quebec Chapter is offering a bursary to lower the cost of attending Toronto’s Congress. In doing so, AFP Quebec Chapter wishes to encourage the development of fundraising professionals in their field.

The bursary is worth $1,000. This will cover your registration fees, as well as part of your lodging and transportation fees.

Selection criteria
  • Must be a member of AFP Quebec Chapter.
  • Must be employed by a charitable organization, and a major part of his/her time should be dedicated to fundraising
  • Must not have attended the Toronto Congress
  • Selected candidates must pledge to attend the Toronto Congress, write an article about his/her experience, and send it to AFP Quebec Chapter. Selected candidate also agree that the article be posted on the AFP Quebec Chapter website and social network.
