December 03, 2020 | 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

If philanthropy is an expression of love for humans and the desire to improve their lives, then philanthropy is fundamentally about trust. The philanthropist’s trust in a foundation and confidence that through them the chosen cause will benefit.

However, it is not enough to simply say that a donation or an action is ethical and presume it will be so. Fundamentally, we need to understand what ethics are and how they can build philanthropic trust. Unfortunately, ethics are sometimes ignored and are too often reduced to an overreliance on a general code of ethics.

René Villemure will offer you guidance and a path for how to act ethically, and will pull aside the veil that sometimes obscures the borders between donations, patronage and sponsorship.

René Villemure is a world leader who is recognized for his in-depth knowledge of the world and of the power of social change. In 2019, he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières in recognition of his achievements in ethics.
