ABOUT CANADA’S CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATIONS
Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations (CCHF) was established in 2017 as a not-for-profit. Comprised of a team which manages the well-established portfolio of Children’s Miracle Network in Canada partnership of nearly $50 million in annual fundraising revenue. CCHF is also mandated to diversify and expand revenue development through new national and international partnerships and campaigns in support of 13 admired children’s hospital/health foundations across Canada.
Children’s hospitals in Canada tackle the greatest challenges and see the most critical cases. CCHF has been collaboratively developed by its 13 member foundations (listed below) to respond to the increasing demand of donors wishing to establish national partnerships to have a greater impact on children’s health across the country. The CCHF team helps increase the impact delivered through these hospitals collectively in a nation-wide story of impact.
Located in Vaughan, Ontario, CCHF currently has a staff headcount of 19 with an annual operating budget of $5 million, comprised of membership fees paid by the Children’s Hospital Foundations and supplemented by corporate sponsorship and underwriting of CCHF awareness and fundraising properties. Foundation revenues represent current funds raised by CCHF Children’s Miracle Network partners, as well as other national partnerships outside of CMN.

ABOUT CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK
Children’s Miracle Network as a whole raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals across North America, 12 of which are in Canada. All contributions raised by companies and their employees in communities across Canada go back to each Member Foundation to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and research. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the non-profits’ mission to do what is right for kids so they will have the healthiest most fulfilling childhood possible.
Each day, over 4,900 children will receive medical treatment for various diseases, sickness and injuries at member hospitals across Canada. These children’s hospitals depend on financial support so that critical priorities, vital programs, equipment and research devoted to children’s health continue to thrive.

Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations (CCHF) is offering a once-in-a-career opportunity to help create the next generation of engagement of Canadians who want to be part of transforming children’s health.
CCHF is seeking a Vice-President, Corporate Partnerships responsible for leading all new business development, as well as managing multi-million dollar partnerships across multiple sectors. Reporting to the President & CEO, Mark Hierlihy, the Vice-President, Corporate Partnerships is part of the CCHF senior leadership team, actively contributing to long-term strategic vision and goals, annual business plans, and execution. Additionally, the Vice-President actively collaborates with the CEO to educate and engage the Board in the revenue generation and partnership strategies and plans.
The Vice-President oversees a team of 6 engaged staff responsible for national relationship management, fundraising strategy and activation. Additionally, the team works collaboratively with teams at our member foundations across Canada responsible for local fundraising, relationship building, service and stewardship.
Drawing on their own significant fundraising, business development, and/or sales experience, the Vice- President exercises exemplary leadership, and helps us take our team to the next level. The Vice- President will support the development of a collaborative team culture, which in turn directly impacts employee engagement, partner service, and overall organizational health and growth.
The Foundation wants this leader to create the future of corporate-cause partnerships with customer and employee engagement as core drivers of revenue. The time is ripe for someone with an unwavering drive to create true partnerships, the flexibility of a start-up leader, and a passion for changing the future of children’s health to lead CCHF to the future of partnerships.
The Vice President’s specific KPI’s include:
- Responsible for $45 million in CCHF revenue, and grow the revenue stream
- Responsible to add one new $1 million partnership to the pipeline in 2019/20
- Increase average partnership value
- Create and elevate a measured valuation proposition for corporate partnerships

The successful candidate will bring diverse experience to the role, understanding how the world is changing for companies, causes, and social structures. As a business development professional, the new Vice-President will draw on proven experience in growing revenues by growing new and existing corporate-cause partnerships.
The ideal candidate will see partnerships as more of a starting point than an end result. The successful candidate will bring proven abilities in expanding existing partnerships, developing and driving an acquisition pipeline, and adding new partners. Understanding that existing partners are a key aspect of growth, evolution, and diversification of revenue streams, the new incumbent will build partnerships that increase shared value, going beyond a mere “sell”.
The Vice-President will understand the value of integrated marketing and stewardship, and will bring an opportunistic and creative lens, and will see opportunities others do not see. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of corporate brands, the changing retail sector, emerging technologies, and new ways of conducting business in order to leverage these for CCHF’s benefit. The new incumbent will have comfort with traditional approaches, balanced with incessant curiosity and innovation in order to maximize existing revenue streams.
With a strong data-driven mindset, and adept at strategically deploying measurement tools, the Vice-President, Corporate Partnerships will work with colleagues to develop and execute workable plans, budgets, and targets. The successful candidate will lead comfortably with one eye in a telescope and the other in a microscope in order to maximize both long-term ROI and short-term results. Previous experience in measuring and reporting on impact will be an asset in this role, as we further develop CCHF’s abilities in this area.
The Vice-President will possess a deep understanding of employee engagement and how charitable partners leverage and strengthen this engagement. The ideal candidate will help our partners to build authenticity into their citizenship, engaging their employees and customers in the journey to help sick children, in local communities, in areas of greatest need. Collaborative by nature, the ideal candidate’s abilities to actively listen, and to be flexible and humble, will foster exceptional and productive relationships with our 13 CCHF member hospital foundations.
The new Vice-President will be an exceptional team leader with superb interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to diverse stakeholders. A strong manager of people, the ideal candidate will provide guidance and coaching to colleagues, and will focus on learning and engagement to further grow the skills, results, and impact of our staff. Team-oriented and collaborative, the successful candidate will appreciate diversity of thinking and skills, and will view internal support teams as partners in success.
A commitment to living by CCHF values and to building and enhancing the culture will be critical and evident throughout the successful candidate’s leadership style. Passionate about helping kids, and able to have fun while making a difference, the Vice-President will be happy to roll up their sleeves at the ground level when necessary, while juggling multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
Constituent & Hospital Engagement
- E.g.: Engage key national stakeholders in the corporate partnership strategy
- Ensure that strategies, tactics, and programs for corporate partnerships are partner-supported, with buy-in and collaboration achieved
Partnership & Revenue Growth
- E.g.: Audit and evaluate existing Foundation properties and programs for opportunities and gaps
- Ensure the Foundation team meets the needs of our corporate partners with speed, flexibility, and innovation
Development and Delivery of Programs & Products
- E.g.: Strategic oversight of the conception, development, and implementation of new corporate partnership programs
- Work across the organization to help create meaningful and compelling corporate sales packages
Staff & Team Leadership
- E.g.: Lead the Corporate Partnerships team, including goal setting, development, coaching, and performance management
- Create a professional and collegial culture
- E.g.: Develop, manage, and monitor business plans and budgets
- Spearhead the development of the corporate partnership pipeline, ensuring best practices in tracking and management

Consumer marketing successes
- Has navigated the changing world of retail selling, ecommerce and marketing
- Deep experience in consumer products and retail marketing in a multi-national brand environment
- Knowledge of product development from conception to execution
- A strong understanding of regional uniqueness across Canada, and how this impacts both client needs (and relationships), as well as consumer marketing success
Building and growing fundraising in cause partnerships
- Proven experience in business development and revenue growth, either in the corporate or non-profit environment, or both; this must include a strong ability to identify, connect with, and close deals with new prospects
- Extensive knowledge of the evolution of corporate citizenship, with the ability to engage corporate partners and member foundations in change
- Proficient sales skills to engage companies in an elevated journey to discover and deliver outstanding mutual value from partnerships, including the non-obvious
- Proven practice in national cause sponsorship and ability to measure value
- Understands the role of hospital foundations in engaging and leveraging partnerships locally at the community level; consequently, brings a perspective on how to support our Hospital Partners in growing their success and impact by leveraging corporate partnerships
Measurement, analysis and insights
- Demonstrated knowledge of and leadership in impact, outcomes and performance measurement
- Strong track record in driving innovative strategies that have realized results
- Demonstrated proficiency in strategic planning and superb critical and analytical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to work comfortably with creativity and ambiguity, and to collaboratively shape effective processes, systems, and policies that support effective, efficient, high-quality work
